Energetic, creative, driven

When you are not working, what do you care about most?
My family. My wife is an accomplished actress, and my son is ready to embark on his college experience. Also, I love hockey. I’m Canadian, so it is embedded in my DNA.

Clive serves as a Marketplace Spokesperson and Initial Sales Manager for FinLife Partners. In addition, he ensures our partner firms exceed their FinLife goals by overseeing training and implementation of FinLife protocols.

A proven entrepreneur and advisor, Clive was previously the founder of Spectrum Assets, Inc., an RIA he began building in 1997, which served the needs of high-net-worth clients in Boca Raton, Florida.

Seeking a more refined client experience model and partnership, he made the decision to sell his practice to United Capital in 2007, becoming Managing Director of the seventh firm acquired by United Capital.

Since the acquisition, Clive has served in numerous positions at United Capital, the most recent being Vice President of Growth Practice Management. In this role, he successfully partnered with advisors on how to implement the United Capital client experience and the Financial Life Management toolset.

Clive has an undergraduate degree from Shenandoah University and resides with his son, Evan, and wife, Margery, in south Florida.

Philip Bland | Senior Business Consultant

What are three words people use to describe you?
Dynamic, charismatic, “I-would-want-to-be-with-him-if-there-was-a-Zombie-Apocalypse”

When you are not working, what do you care about most?
Things that are most important to me are traveling, exploring new places around the globe, meeting new people, and experiencing new cultures.

Phil is a fierce champion of the human advisor. He is passionate about helping firms adapt to an industry that is becoming more digital with each passing day.

Before joining FinLife Partners, Phil was the Director of Business Development for a hybrid RIA, where he was responsible for building a platform to recruit independent advisors across the country. Spearheading this effort, Phil had many duties including value proposition creation, branding, technology, pricing, marketing, and integration with compliance and legal functions. In 2016, after two short years and more than $1B of new assets, his firm was named the fastest growing RIA by FA Magazine.

Phil received a football scholarship to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he started as a true freshman at safety in 2001, playing for the National Championship in the Rose Bowl. Phil graduated in 2005 with a degree in business administration, completing his final semester at Bond University, which is located in the Gold Coast, Australia.

When stateside, you can find Phil in the mountains in search of fresh tracks in the winter and looking for his tee shot in the deep stuff in the summer.

Mo joined FinLife Partners from a multi-family office that managed $10B in assets, where he served as a Managing Director in their New York City office. Mo worked with ultra high-net-worth individuals and families and led business development efforts.

Mo’s start in financial services was in 2001 at Credit Suisse in the Alternatives Investments Group, after completing his active duty service as a naval officer. A surface warfare officer, Mo deployed to the Mediterranean and Middle East.

Mo earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the United States Naval Academy and a Master of Business Administration from the Johnson School of Management at Cornell University.

Rescuing animals: I am a part of many groups that support caring for, fostering, and adopting rescue animals.

After beginning her tenure with United Capital offices four years ago, Clara joined the launch of our FinLife Partners and has managed our partner firms as they have come on board, helping them to adopt the tools and processes. Clara moved to the Sales team to use the depth of her experience with United Capital offices and FinLife Partners to help new firms understand the value and unique intricacies of FinLife.

Clara has over 20 years of financial services experience in advising, sales management, and relationship management. Clara began her career at AIM Funds in Austin, Texas. Since then, Clara has worked for USAA, American Funds, and AIG before coming to United Capital.

In her spare time, Clara enjoys practicing daily yoga, traveling, and devoting time to various Dallas rescue organizations. She also has two adults sons that she raves are the “best men she knows.”

Jason serves as the Marketplace Spokesperson and Client Experience Expert for FinLife Partners and United Capital. A proven entrepreneur, investor, author, and industry speaker, Jason was previously the founder of Valley Wealth, Inc., an investment advisory firm which served the needs of high-net-worth clients, endowments, foundations, and corporate retirement plans.

Jason received his undergraduate degree in business management and then earned a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Gonzaga University. He also earned his industry credentials from the College for Financial Planning (CRPS®) and the Center for Fiduciary Studies (AIF®).

Along with his three young daughters—Emily, Lily, and Grace—Jason and his wife, Tracy, reside in Monterey, California.

Matt Zimmerman | Senior Business Consultant

Matt is committed to helping RIAs successfully provide what clients value most: on-demand advice and guidance, in an era of advancing technology and fee compression.

Matt has over 15 years of experience in the financial services industry, with roles spanning from product development and retail distribution to institutional sales and channel marketing. He began his career at Guggenheim, made a career change to Invesco, and then took a brief sabbatical to volunteer at a youth camp in South East Alaska, where he ministered to underprivileged youth. Prior to joining FinLife Partners, Matt orchestrated the design and build-out of Milliman Financial Risk Management’s first retail platform. In this role, Matt was responsible for the day-to-day management and operations of Milliman’s distribution team, as well as the creation, development, and positioning of each business unit in the marketplace. In so doing, Matt grew assets from zero to over $70B across all channels and products.

Matt and his wife, Katie, have three children and reside in the Chicagoland area.

Christian is passionate about leading the future of financial planning. His career has evolved over 30 years as the wealth management industry has evolved and the value proposition has changed. Starting his career as a stockbroker with Merrill Lynch, Christian then moved into investment management with Fidelity Investments, financial planning with TIAA, and, finally, his current focus, Financial Life Management with United Capital. Christian has seen it all! Having spent the last 20 years coaching and mentoring high-performance wealth management advisors at these firms, he is keenly aware of what it takes to succeed in our competitive marketplace and wants to help RIAs position themselves for success in the future.

Christian has an undergraduate degree in finance and marketing from the University of Denver and holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Texas, Dallas. He is a Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP), a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), and a Chartered Mutual Fund Counselor (CMFC).

Christian lives in Dallas with his wife of 30 years, Jerri. They have two children: a daughter, Alex, who lives in New York City, and a son, William, who lives in Washington DC.

James Andrews | Business Development Analyst

I’m a newly minted father and spend most of my time chasing after my son, Gavin.

In 2017 James joined the FinLife Partners team and acts as the conduit between the executive, business development, and operations departments. James is responsible for supporting the business development activities of the Senior Business Consultants. Throughout his tenure, he developed the sales engagement process and platform for evaluating potential partners, worked closely with the executive team on pricing strategies, and collaborated across departments to execute delivery of successful business development initiatives.

He graduated from California Polytechnic University and holds a bachelor’s degree in entrepreneurial finance. While in college, James completed a 16-month apprenticeship program with Chipotle Mexican Grill, where he managed a $1.5 million store, oversaw the development of 35 employees, and increased semi-annual sales by 11.5%.

In addition to being with his family, James is an accomplished pianist, has received the Eagle Scout award with top honors, and enjoys spending time serving in the local community. He is a consummate outdoorsman and volunteer. He spends his off-hours serving those around him, reading the latest book, and wishing he had a sailboat.

David is committed to helping advisors grow their businesses and deepen client relationships, while remaining competitive in the new norm of rapidly advancing technology and fee compression.

The majority of David’s career has been focused on fee-based investment advisors. Prior to joining FinLife Partners, he spent many years at Fidelity Investments working with RIAs in the Practice Management and Consulting Group.

On the weekends, you can find David on the golf course or attending events with his car club.

David received his bachelor’s in business administration from Stephen F. Austin State University and resides in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
